Pretzel & Stouffer Beats Back Copyright Troll’s Infringement Claim

Jim Sipchen recently forced a settlement of a copyright infringement suit for less than what it cost the plaintiff to file the lawsuit in the first place. The suit was brought by an Indiana attorney against a non-profit organization that promotes the health of single mothers and their babies.  The plaintiff, who is notorious for filing dozens of such lawsuits in Indiana federal court and obtaining thousands of dollars in judgments over use of a copyrighted photograph of the Indianapolis skyline, quickly backed away from his claims after Jim was able to demonstrate that the appearance of the photograph in a power point at an educational seminar was a fair use of the image.
