Pretzel & Stouffer Partner Conducts Mock Jury Trial for First-Year UIC Internal Medicine Residents

Pretzel & Stouffer partner Brian Sundheim recently conducted a mock jury trial program for 35 University of Illinois Medical Center first-year internal medicine residents at the Daley Center in Chicago. The program provided a hands-on look at what defendant physicians face in the courtroom during a medical malpractice lawsuit.

In addition to the unique perspective Mr. Sundheim provided to these young physicians, this experience provided them with credit toward the law and ethics portion of their curriculum.

“You nailed every objective we had for the teaching experience, plus some,” UIC senior attending physician Fred Zar, M.D., commented to Mr. Sundheim following the program. “I know of no other training program that exposes residents to a true courtroom experience…and as evidenced by their questions, they were fascinated by the legal process.”
