Attorney Bio

Alex Beehler is an Associate at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, where he is developing his practice as a trial attorney. Before joining the firm Alex served a two-year term as Judicial Clerk to the Honorable James P. Flannery Jr., the Presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Law Division. Alex helped prepare Judge Flannery for argument and ruling on significant motions before the court. He drafted general administrative orders, opinions, and ran the Law Division’s externship program. He also clerked for Law Division Judges Margaret A. Brennan, Clare E. McWilliams, and Thomas R. Mulroy on an interim basis.

Alex earned his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was an accomplished member of Chicago-Kent’s Moot Court Honors Society. His team won the 2015 McGee Civil Rights National Championship, with the best brief, and Alex was individually rated the third best overall advocate in the competition. His team finished as quarterfinalists at the prestigious Andrews Kurth Moot Court National Championship. Aside from advocacy awards, Alex received accolades for legal research and writing as well. He was an editor of the Seventh Circuit Review, where he authored a case comment that was published. He was also a Legal Research and Writing Teaching Assistant, and he received the CALI award for the highest grade in his pretrial litigation class.

In his free time Alex moonlights as a professional soccer referee in the USL and NWSL, and as a NCAA Division 1 soccer referee for the Big Ten, MAC, Horizon, and Summit conferences.
