Attorney Bio

Lewis is the partner in charge of non-litigation services at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, including business organizations and operations, professional practices, estate and asset protection planning, estate and trust administration, and business and real estate transactions. He has practiced law for more than 35 years, providing general counsel services in all aspects of owning and operating businesses and professional practices, as well as personal estate and asset protection planning for business and practice owners. These services include counseling clients on the formation and continuing operations of closely held businesses and professional practices, including assistance in choosing the form in which the business will operate; drafting operating and buy/sell agreements and benefit plans; drafting agreements for employees, including contracts and policy and employee manuals; drafting and negotiating contracts; facilitating transactions such as asset acquisitions and sales, mergers, and consolidations; planning and drafting estate plans, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and living wills; and administering estates and trusts. The acquisition, leasing and sale of residential, commercial and industrial real estate for individuals and business are important parts of the firm’s transaction practice. Lewis has achieved the highest Martindale-Hubbell rating, AV.

Lewis’ clients include individuals, partnerships, corporations and limited liability entities that own and operate health care practices, from solo practitioners and single specialties to large groups and large multiple specialty practices. He also counsels businesses in service, sales and manufacturing in a wide variety of industries.

Lewis is a former instructor of legal writing at The John Marshall Law School. Outside of work, he enjoys Chicago’s cultural offerings, travel, biking, running and skiing.
